My name is Candice Halison. Coming from a family of musicians and singers, I began piano lessons at the age of 5. Along with singing in the Children's Choir at church, my piano lessons intrigued my hearing and attention for details. By the age of 11, I was performing Bach and Beethoven for my studio recitals.  Through middle school and high school, my focus was music.  Clarinet, Bass Clarinet and Flute were added to my concentration of instruments.  During this time, along with four other young ladies, my vocal mentor, brought together a gospel singing ensemble. Ministering in church and around the city we forged a strong, fresh mixture of our voices. We later sang on BET's Teen Summit in a talent competition. After realizing that music was my passion, I applied for the School of the Arts in Music Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. In 1999, I began teaching piano as a result of wanting to share my passion. My studies progressed in orchestral instruments, band instruments, composition of music, theory, conducting, vocal performance and piano performance.
